Description: French street artist Shaka is apparently a mainstay of the Parisian graffiti scene, and the fascinating thing about his more recent work is its three-dimensional nature — it's built out in bas-relief from the canvas onto which it's painted, blurring the line between painting and sculpture and creating a pretty dramatic effect, particularly in conjunction with the striking and colorful nature of his images. Five works debut downtown at gallery nine5; these are pieces you definitely want to view in person if possible.
