Description

Presented by BAM, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and Medgar Evers College of The City University of New York

Join New York City’s civic, cultural, and community leaders in honoring Dr. King’s life and legacy. Presented by BAM, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and Medgar Evers College, this year’s celebration includes performances by Fort Greene/Clinton Hill’s own Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir, and husband-and-wife R&B duo Kindred the Family Soul.

Most notably, this 27th annual tribute features a keynote address by legendary musician and humanitarian Harry Belafonte. Mr. Belafonte’s personal commitment to social activism and his close friendship with Dr. King make him an ideal conduit for the reverend’s memory and message.

Included in this year’s festivities is a live simulcast of the 57th presidential inauguration commencing the historic second term of President Barack Obama.
